The Jesse Rhoads family came from Kentucky in 1829 and settled on land south of the Macoupin Creek. This site was later to be called Medora. Jesse built a cabin the north part of this area and f ive other Rhoads brothers joined them in 1830. The additional Rhoads brothers were John, Jo siah, Henry, William (some say it was Samuel not William), and Jacob and all were enterprising people. . .
