The first settlement in what was to become the village of Piasa was made in 1835. George Parker who came from Greyson County, Kentucky, with his wife and baby daughter started this settle ment. He filed claim for land on section 29. His home was located on the east side of the Alton Road, which is now IL Rte 111 and IL Rte 267 a few hundred yards south of the Piasa Creek.
