A four horse stage wagon named the St. Louis Sangamon State Company was advertised in 1822
to run from St. Louis to Sangamon (now Springfield). It would run every two weeks taking two
days to reach Sangamon. A change station for the changing of teams was located at this merging
intersection about three miles east of where Plainview is now. At that time, the location was re
ferred to as Planview. . .

Reader was a small settlement located north of Chesterfield in Western Mound Township and was
named after George W. Reader. The town was established close to the Jacksonville Southeastern
Railroad Line in section 13 of the township. . .
