Located on the north side of the Anderson Home, the Wash House is a reminder of life in
a bygone time. It was customary, particularly among upper class households, to have a separate
building for laundering and for cooking during the summer. Maintaining a “summer kitchen”
helped keep the living quarters cooler during the summer months.
